DNA/RNA
The study of DNA is one of the most exciting areas of molecular biology today. You can hardly
watch television, read a magazine, or go to a movie without hearing or reading about “DNA.” DNA
is considered the “blueprint of life.” The functions of DNA in living organisms are to provide
directions for repair of damaged cells and production of new cells. It is responsible for the
characteristics of living things from one generation to the next by storing the genetic
information and controlling the production of proteins.
