Are your lips shaped the same as your parents or your siblings (brother and sister)? Let’s ask an even more probing question. Have you ever known of a case where 2 dogs parented puppies with completely different color hair? Why do twins look and act so much alike?
These questions and many more like them can be investigated in greater depth by studying the areas of science called genetics and heredity. Genetics is the study of heredity and heredity is the passing on of traits from parents to offspring. In this module you will learn what determines an organism’s traits. You will also investigate many other facts about genetics and heredity and how they work. Equally as important are those scientists whose work has increased our understanding of these areas.
