As you have already learned, cells come in many shapes and sizes-even within a single
organism. In our human bodies, we have approximately 200 different types of cells:
brain cells, liver cells, bone cells, blood cells, and muscle cells, to name a familiar
few. Each type of cell is specialized for its particular job.
