Some farmers
grow fruits or vegetables that we eat.
This farmer is an apple farmer.
He has a lot of land with hundreds of apple trees.

Farmers will plant their trees in the
spring. It will take 4 or 5 years
before the trees to start to grow apples.
They have to make sure the trees get enough water and sunlight, so the
trees will grow lots of apples during summer.
In the summer the trees begin to grow apples.
By fall, the apples are ready to be
picked. The farmers will get lots of
people to help them pick all of the apples.
Sometimes farmers will let other people, like you and your family, come
pick their apples.

They will
send the apples to markets and grocery stores so people can buy them. There are many different kinds of apples.

During
winter, the apple trees lose all of their leaves and “sleep” until spring comes
and they grow new leaves.
